Durian

The durian is considered as “King of Fruit” in Southeast Asia due to its large size, strong odour, and formidable thorn-covered husk. Durian is well-known for a delicious, soft, succulent and very popular fruit for its unique characteristics.

The flesh is mostly eaten fresh, often out-of-hand. It is best after being well chilled in a refrigerator and canned in sirup for export. It is also dried for local use and export.

Durian is an excellent base for a smoothie and its texture is similar to custard or yogurt. It is a perfect vegan alternative for non-dairy milkshakes and ultra-creamy smoothies. You can also freeze it to make durian ice cream or other sweet dishes.

Durian is a great addition to any diet as it is a great source of essential nutrients such as B vitamins, vitamin C, copper, manganese, magnesium and potassium, healthy fats and dietary fiber, all of which are necessary for keeping in good health.
